The Crown Staffordshire company took this name in 1889, but was born in the second half of the 18th century from the processing of terracotta with the name of Minerva Works, from Minerva, goddess of craftsmanship.
Crown Staffordshire made all kinds of bone china dinnerware and was known for its powder blue and hand painting. Some of the best artists of the time signed their works (such as Leslie Johnson of “cries of London vases”).
In 1973 the company became part of the Wedgwood group that we all know today.
